Hometown Tables

Katie Dahl was inspired to write "Hometown Tables" when a entrepreneur attempted to open a Subway restaurant in Sister Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, the site of her family's homestead (and a place currently free of chain restaurants). Fueled by her passionate desire to keep Door County culture unique, Dahl wrote "Hometown Tables," an exuberant celebration of her hometown. This single track is itself an example of the vibrancy of Door County culture, as it features a host of local musicians, including fiddle and mandolin by Tommy Burroughs, harmonica by Tim Gittings, harmony vocals by Claudia Russell and Alissa Rhode, and backing vocals by a large chorus of Door County voices. Recorded in a home studio just a mile away from the site of the proposed Subway, "Hometown Tables" is a triumphant tribute to the power of community and song.
